Jakarta – Ramadan is the perfect time to spread some kindness and strengthen those relationships. 7th grade students of SMP Muhamadiyah 9 Jakarta got that, and they did an awesome thing called the “We Care We Share” activity. From March 3 to 7, 2025, students from Al Jazari, Al Biruni, Al Battani, Al Farabi, and Al Khawarizmi classes took turns holding this blessed activity.
The “We Care We Share” activity is meant to encourage students to care for each other and work together. Every day, they started off with reading the Quran together, and then the students gave a short talk about a related topic. Then, they rush to the neighborhood around the school to hand out takjil to people in need.
It’s not just about sharing outside the school, it’s also a chance to strengthen relationships between students. After sharing takjil, they break their fast together at school, followed by Maghrib, Isha, and Tarawih prayers in congregation. The whole event has a really communal and solemn vibe.
This “We Care We Share” thing is a win-win for the community and a valuable experience for the students. They learned to care for others, strengthen their Islamic community, and increase their faith during the holy month of Ramadan. Hopefully, this activity will inspire other schools to participate in spreading kindness in this blessed month.
